An ORP meter measures lower voltages that are generated by a probe which is kept in ozonated water, the electrode that is used is usually made out of platinum or gold which loses its electrons to the oxidizer. Once the voltage is generated it is compared to a silver electrode in a silver salt solution which is like a pH probe. The more oxidizer available the more the voltage difference will be available in the solutions.
